How to find a place to live
A common way to find a place to live is to search online. Denmark has a series of housing portals you can use. In addition, all Danish newspapers run ads. As an alternative, you can contact a real estate agent, rental agency or relocation partner. They can help you find a place to live for a fee.
Another good idea is to ask your employer or perhaps colleagues for advice. Making use of your personal network will most often be the most effective way to find a place to live.
Renting a home
There are several different types of housing in Denmark. The most common among newcomers is to rent or sublet a house, a flat or a room in a shared apartment.
It is highly recommended that you obtain a rental agreement in writing from your landlord or estate agent. This rental agreement states the terms and conditions of the tenancy and must be signed by your landlord or housing agent.
When you rent a home, you normally deposit three months of rent and pay additional three months of rent in advance before moving in.
Buying a place to live
Buying a house or an apartment can be a valid alternative if you plan to stay in Denmark for a longer period. In Denmark, it is normal to take out a housing loan at a mortgage credit institution and/or bank to finance this kind of purchase.
