Danish courses for newly arrived
Free Danish lessons for newcomers
You may have already thought about it: the Danish language! We admit, it is not an easy language to learn, but it is important to know that when a job in Denmark is advertised in English, it usually means you will be able to manage with English in the workplace.
However, a willingness to learn Danish will be considered an asset by most employers.
Certain jobs will require a good command of Danish. The more client or patient contact your role involves, the stronger your Danish language skills need to be. However, you do not need to worry about it yet – the Danish state organized Danish language training for newcomers.
Danish lessons for children going to school
If you relocate to Denmark with children, you might wonder how they will be able to attend school without knowing Danish. In general, non-Danish speaking children are either placed in a reception class with other non-Danish-speaking students or are placed in a regular Danish-speaking class but are given extra support in the language.
The purpose of a reception class is to introduce non-Danish speaking students to the Danish language and the Danish school system. You can get specific information from your Danish municipality once you know where in Denmark you will move to. For your orientation, we have included two links to two of our larger municipalities which should give you an idea of the concept.
